Year Two have thoroughly enjoyed their Design and Technology topic this half term. We have discussed the Eatwell Plate and healthy eating choices. First, we looked at the hidden sugars in drinks and were surprised by the amount of sugar in the fruit juice! Next, we enjoyed a 'Sugar Savy' workshop with Chartwells where we learn about the difference between added sugar and natural sugar, we also made and ate a delicious fruit kebab. Finally, today we designed, made, ate and evaluated a healthy wrap. We then had to collaborate with our partner and support them to create the same model with their own pieces of Lego. Super work Year Three! ... See MoreSee Less

It was great to have Matthew in schoool to promote Junior Parkrun yesterday. We took part in a warm up and heard all about the great benefits of running! This morning we visited Thornhill Primary School Shildon for our next parkrun assembly. The students asked some great questions. Especially the one about dogs which hasn’t been mentioned before. Just to confirm to all, we aren’t allowed dogs in the park except assistance dogs. This isn’t a parkrun rule, it’s a rule for the park overall. Looking forward to seeing some Thornhill students on a Sunday morning! ... See MoreSee Less
