Today, in Year Two we have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mr. Hill, a ceramic artist. We talked about habitats being a place where plants and animals live and then we created sea creatures to place in an underwater habitat. We learnt how to make pinch pots, rolls of clay and how to use water a slip to stick the clay items together. It was great fun and we are very proud of our 'tiles' and can't wait to bring them home. ... See MoreSee Less

Over the last few weeks Year Three have been learning about different engineers. This week we completed a workshop which involved a Q and A with a real engineer. He had made a variety of different machines such as an eject seat for vehicles and a sausage casing machine. The children asked some great questions. We also had the opportunity to work with published children's author Victoria Downes. Victoria wrote a story all about engineers. We then helped to create our own ideas for a story. The children also got take their own book home. Great work Year Three! ... See MoreSee Less

We are hoping to attend again in July and we will be hosting our very own junior parkrun around the school grounds!Good morning from Victoria Jubilee Junior parkrun HQ. It’s Schools Survey Reveal Day! We’re going to leave the Top 3 to the final reveal as we reveal JOINT 4th place.Repping the Bishop Auckland/Shildon massiv are both Thornhill and Toft Hill who both brought along 13 participants. A cracking effort from both schools even if they were local, nevermind the fact they have about a 15/20 minute drive over to the event! Well done to everyone involved! Year Three have enjoyed continuing their learning about different engineers today. We looked at the significiant individual 'Emily Roebling' who was vital in the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. We then were challenged to create our own bridge. This task took a lot of resilience and perserverance but we managed to get there. Some of the bridges were able to hold the weight of an iPad and a book. Great work Year Three and thanks to the help of Year Five. ... See MoreSee Less
