Year 2

Class Teachers- Mrs Jones

Hello, my name is Mrs Jones and I am a Deputy Head Teacher at Thornhill Primary School. I have been teaching for many years and simply love my job working with children in all the different classes and age ranges.

During my spare time I love to spend time with my family and I particularly enjoy watching my son play rugby. I  have many pets and one of my favourite hobbies is competitive horse riding, where I compete in both dressage and showjumping with my horse Tigger. I also love to walk my dogs Pringle and Bobby in the countryside and I enjoy gardening too.

For any queries in Year 2 please contact Mrs Jones -jjones.teacher@thornhill.durham.sch.uk

Year Two Parent-Carer Meeting

The following notes outline some important routines that should help us all to have an organised year.

• Reading

Please listen to your child read for 20 minutes every night. Reading is a skill that needs to be developed with regular practise, little and often, so your continued support with this is invaluable. Also please ensure that planners come to school everyday.

Spellings / Maths Facts
In Year 2 the children will continue to have a weekly spelling test and maths facts test on a Monday. They will be given a new set of spellings and maths facts in the week ready for the test on the following Monday.

PE
Currently children have daily structured PE sessions. At present they do not require a school PE kit, but must wear suitable shoes everyday.
